My Fair Lady: A Gay Couple in Edwardian England

You can save more than $500 on Microsoft's Surface Pro 9 this weekend The translucent Beats Studio Buds Plus are also on sale, along with one of our favorite wired video doorbells. If you buy something from a Verge link, Vox Media may earn a commission. See our ethics statement. This morning, Tim Cook personally opened Apple's iconic Fifth Avenue store to a long line of early Vision Pro adopters. Our own Nilay Patel dug deep into the ins and outs of Apple's new mixed-reality headset in his lengthy review earlier this week, which you can either read at The Verge or check out on our YouTube channel (of course, we recommend both).   Let's face it (no pun intended), while the Vision Pro is a fun peek into the future of digital workspaces, it's also a pricey splurge that only a fraction of us can truly afford at $3,499. Luckily, there's plenty of tech on sale right now for far less —in fact, all eight products below wouldn't even come close to the cost of the Vision Pro if you bought them all. The Surface Pro 9, for example, is available at Best Buy with a with a Surface Keyboard for $999.99 ($540 off). The Arlo Essential wired doorbell, meanwhile, is down to just $49.99 ($100 off) at multiple retailers, while the see-through Beats Studio Buds Plus are going for $89.99 ($80 off) at Woot in refurbished condition. Keep reading for more of this week's best deals. The Microsoft Surface Pro 9 is down to $999 ($540 off) with a keyboard at Best Buy Once upon a time, I bought a Surface Pro only to return it less than a month later as I felt it was a niche device lacking the foundational integrity of an iPad or a MacBook. I've grown a newfound respect for the Surface Pro line with the maturing of Windows, however, and now find the 2-in-1 nicely occupies the middle ground between a tablet and laptop. If I needed one today, Best Buy's deal on the Surface Pro 9 with a 12th-gen Intel Core i5 chipset, 16GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and a Surface Pro Keyboard might win me over. It's going for $999.99 ($540 off), after all, which matches its all-time low.   My favorite thing about the Surface Pro 9 compared to traditional 2-in-1s is that you can use it as a tablet without the heft of a keyboard. The 13-inch display can seem unwieldy on paper, but it's surprisingly thin with a balanced, lightweight build. Creatives can use styluses such as the optional Surface Slim Pen 2 ($129.99) and the keyboard easily attaches via magnets when it's time to crunch through serious work tasks. In addition to a lack of ports, one major downside of the Pro 9 compared to flippable 2-in-1s is that it's not ideal for lap use, as it only has a built-in kickstand for propping up the screen. The convertible Surface Pro 9 offers a sharp Dolby Vision IQ display with a speedy 120Hz refresh rate. It's also compatible with styli like the Surface Slim Pen 2 (sold separately). $1,000 AT BEST BUY You can buy a refurbished, translucent pair of the Beats Studio Buds Plus for $89.99 Clearly, the translucent Beats Studio Buds Plus are for those of us who appreciate all the intricate soldering and wiring work that goes into the ultraportable tech we enjoy. And now until February 8th, Woot has them in refurbished, like-new condition for $89.99, which is $80 off the price of a new pair. Woot is selling them with a 90-day warranty, but Amazon and Best Buy are also discounting the wireless earbuds in new condition to $129.99 ($40 off), which is just $10 more than their all-time low.   The Beats Studio Buds Plus sound as good as they look. Although we feel they come up just short of Apple's AirPods Pro in ANC performance and hallmark features like spatial audio, they're a solid improvement over the original Studio Buds. They have better audio quality overall, and the call performance benefits from new microphones that do a better (albeit, still imperfect) job at cutting out ambient noise. Read our review. Beats Studio Buds Plus (refurbished) $89.99 $169.99 47% off Prices taken at time of publishing. The Beats Studio Buds Plus offer better sound and noise cancellation than the original model, and they now come in a unique translucent color option. $90 AT WOOT  Arlo's Essential Video Doorbell can help you see who's knocking for $49.99 ($100 off) For most people, a video doorbell is a great starting point to explore the world of smart home security. They allow you to remotely monitor the most frequently trafficked entry to your home, which is ideal for safety reasons, and they allow you to greet visitors without having to rush to the door. Arlo is one of the most popular brands currently offering such peace of mind, and its Essential Wired Video Doorbell is on sale at Amazon and Best Buy for $49.99, a full $100 off.   We still consider the original Arlo Essential to be one of the best video doorbells you can buy. Its wired nature makes it more reliable than some of Arlo's newer cameras, and we like that you can use it with whichever smart home platform you prefer, including Google Home and Apple Home. (Both offer live feeds through their respective apps, by the way, but the latter requires Arlo's $100 Smart Hub.) You'll get the most out of the doorbell by subscribing to Arlo Secure, which adds smart alerts, automatic geofencing, 30-day cloud video storage, interactive notifications, quick responses, and activity zones. Without the subscription, you're limited to just live feeds. Arlo Essential Wired Video Doorbell $49.99 $149.99 67% off Prices taken at time of publishing. Arlo's wired video doorbell has excellent video quality, wide smart home compatibility, extensive smart alerts, and a square aspect ratio for spotting packages. It requires a subscription for recorded video and doesn't have 24/7 recording, but does include a pre-roll feature. $50 AT AMAZON $50 AT BEST BUY More ways to save this weekend Samsung's 2022 Frame TV is heavily discounted at Woot through Super Bowl Sunday, February 11th. You can start at 43 inches for $727.99 ($270 off) or stretch up to 85 inches for $2,697.99 ($1,600 off). While many of us at  The Verge prefer OLED TVs, Samsung's 4K QLED offers a sharp, vibrant picture and comes with a stylish exterior that pulls doubly duty as a massive photo frame — one that can cycle through hundreds of art pieces when idle. If you're looking to outfit a big room with smart lighting, Amazon is selling a two-pack of Govee's 32.8-feet RGBIC strip lights for an economically sound $54.99 ($25 off). You can control them with Google Assistant and Alexa, or via Govee's smartphone app. This particular variety doesn't allow you to cut them to size, so you'll want to assess your project's needs before heading to checkout. The Ember Mug 2, a popular guilty pleasure purchase for coffee and tea lovers, is on sale for $26 off at Amazon, dropping it to just $103.95 in multiple colors. That's not the lowest price we've seen on the self-heating mug, but if you're making extra cups of your favorite warm substance to combat the cold still battering the US, it will save you a daily trip or two to the microwave. Sonic Superstars is a solid return to the 2D, side-scrolling gameplay many of us grew up on. The platformer was a hard sell for some at $60, but you can race to buy it for just $19.99 ($40 off) at Best Buy for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X / S. Sonic veterans may appreciate how well it sticks to the series' roots while upgrading the visuals and introducing fun new abilities to complete stages. The 128GB Meta Quest 2 is on sale for $229 at Woot through February, which is $20 cheaper than the new standard. The Quest 2 doesn't have the camera hardware needed for mixed reality like its successor, but it's an affordable virtual reality headset that's still capable of running all the best games and apps the Meta Quest Store has to offer.
